Grandma Janice’s Student Theater

  • Give students a creative platform for script writing, and
  • Develop confidence in our students to write, direct, and perform in public.

The Production:
In Grandma Janice’s Student Theater, shows are written and directed by Storybook Theatre students! Of course, Mrs. Heap has worked with the students on their shows and will be there as assistant director. However, this does mean that these shows may be different from our usual Storybook Theatre shows. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

This semester we are performing Haunted Library by Éowyn Paddock.
James and Lucy are mystified when they discover a library that seems to have appeared out of nowhere. When a book disappears and they encounter expressionless people wandering about the premises, the children suspect that the library is haunted! Can they discover the truth behind these strange occurrences–before they are enchanted?

Location: Haven Gray
65 Big Tree Street
Livonia, NY 14487

The theater room is upstairs. Parking is limited, but more parking is available around the corner in the public parking lot behind Community Bank located on Commercial Street.

Registration Fee:
As this production is written and directed by students, we are not charging a registration fee. Students participating in this program will not be getting the full coaching and training that they normally receive in our Storybook Theatre or Owl’s Junior Theater classes.

Fundraising:
There are many expenses (supplies, costumes, props, backdrops, printing, etc.) that come with putting on a show. However, we do not charge for this program and the donations we receive at our shows are not enough to cover our expenses for this program. Therefore, to help offset these costs, we are offering a fundraising opportunity with prizes for the top three students who help raise the most support for their show.

Volunteers:
We are always looking for volunteers to help make and/or paint sets, organize props, help backstage, fill in for sound/light technicians if no one registers for those areas, and help clean.

Dress Code:
Due to the athletic nature of acting, actors and actresses should wear clothes that allow for full range of motion and coverage. Please wear shirts that are long enough to either remain tucked in or cover stomach completely, even when raising arms in theatrical movements and active games. Please wear shirts that have a tight enough neckline that will allow you to bend over without exposing your chest. Please wear shorts or pants that will completely cover all underwear and will allow you to move around without exposing any part of your underwear. Actresses, if you are wearing a dress or skirt, please wear leggings or shorts underneath.

*Leggings or biker shorts and tight tanks or t-shirts will be needed to be worn under costumes for practices and shows. The color is to be determined by costume.

Registration Directions:
Spaces are limited. Registration will close May 31, 2026 and all forms are due then. In order for your registration to be accepted, fill out the registration form, and a parent and each student must agree to the conduct agreement, liability waiver, and dress code.
