The unspeakable
Gift.
The Unspeakable Gift is an adaptation of Emily Elizabeth Steele Elliot’s book Matty’s Hungry Missionary Box. This heart-warming and thought-provoking script tells the story of how the death of a small child at Christmas time reminds a family about the real gift of Christmas. This production is a simple and sweet reminder that Christ’s presence on earth is a gift of unspeakable worth, one that we should be ready and willing to share with others.
More about Our Program.
The Storybook Theatre started September 2019. This program was started as a fun way to enrich our community through stories of hope, encourage our families to build moral character, and develop in our students the confidence to speak, present, and perform in public.
This first semester has been an amazing adventure for students and teachers alike. Through the challenges we faced, we have been able to see God work in amazing ways and provide for us each step of the way.

This semester we had 10 students, ranging from 5 years old to 17 years old. We worked on theater skills, practiced speaking on and off stage, and talked about godly character.
We also worked on tonight’s performance. This was a challenging production to put together because of the old-fashioned language and heavy dialogue, but the students worked hard to learn their lines. They were also challenged to run lights and music, direct props, photograph headshots, and design our program cover.
We are blessed to have the opportunity to equip our students with skills and character that will impact their community for Christ. We appreciate your support. Thank you for joining us tonight. We hope you are encouraged by tonight’s performance of The Unspeakable Gift.

Are you looking for your next Christmas play to perform with your school, church, or community theater? Look no further! This heart-warming script is a wonderful reminder of the greatest gift anyone can receive this Christmas season.
The characters in this script are easily adaptable to both male or female roles. The opening school scene and Christmas caroling scene allows for a large number of students to be involved without needing to memorize lines. This production runs about 30 minutes but could be made to run longer if the full Christmas carols are sung, rather than just a stanza of each. The lyrics and music for the Christmas carols are easily found online, making the caroling scene easy and enjoyable to put together.
